Lee on Solent Proposal | Hampshire Engagement Shoot
At the end of 2018, Rob contacted me and told me his plan to propose to his girlfriend Ella. He asked me to photograph the proposal and have a mini shoot on the beach afterward. I of course got on board and we schemingly planned away!
Rob proposed to Ella on a very blustery December day between Christmas and new year 2018, outside a church in Lee-on-Solent. It was a rather unsuspecting plan of Robs to propose to Ella on the grounds of the church that her father and grandfather attended. They were visiting Lee-on-Solent to enjoy the simple beauty of the small beach town on a cold January day, and explore the town where Ella’s father grew up.
Rob had set up a string of fairy lights in a tree behind the church. When they came upon the tree with the lights strung between the branches, he gave Ella a set of headphones and she listened to his voice in her ears, recalling the story of their relationship. At each point in the story he would hang a memorable photo from that time onto the string of lights. By the end of the story there were over a dozen photos hung across the trees. Over the recording Rob had made, when the story finished he asked Ella to walk around to see the back of the photographs. Ella looked behind the photos to see that they spelled out “Will you marry me?”. Before he could get down on one knee Ella kissed him, so from a distance I took that as a yes!
